History of Aleppo Soap

Aleppo soap was created in Aleppo, Syria. Inhabited for more than 8 thousand years, Aleppo is one of the oldest cities to survive the centuries. It was also the endpoint for the “Silk Road” that connected the east and west before sea trade routes came about.

The recipe and manufacturing process of this soap has not changed and is still in production today. Made olive oil, sweet bay or laurel oil, water and sodium hydroxide, it is heated, poured into a form and left to cool.

Left in the shade to age for at least 7 months, the soap turns the soap from green to brown.

Aleppo soap is natural; it has no preservatives or fragrances. It is biodegradable, fights signs of aging, is a natural moisturizer and humectant. Purchase it here at The Salt Nest. Stop by today to pick up a few bars!
